Swedish Massage
Typically a light to medium pressure massage, which is great for those who are new to massage therapy! Swedish Massage consists of a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles. Combined with the session are active and passive movements of the joints, stretching, to allow for an ultimate therapeutic experience.
Deep Tissue Massage
Myofascial Release (MFR)
Both modalities include techniques that release chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons and fascia. Myofascial Release particularly uses long, stretching strokes to release muscular tension. This is a lighter, less aggressive therapy, however some strokes may be deeper depending on what area is addressed.
The myofascial system is a physiological system that has profound influence over other structures of the body. The word "myo" means muscle. Fascia is the thin layer that covers every muscle and every fiber within each muscle. When you stretch a muscle, you are really stretching the fascia.
When you injure a muscle, the fascia around it becomes tight. Uneven or excess stress, poor diet, toxicity, etc. are all transmitted through the fascia to other parts of the body. This can cause chronic pain patterns, mobility restrictions, many other unexpected symptoms. Myofascial Release relieves the uneven tightness, freeing the body of any pain or trauma, restoring range of motion, and overall balance & well being to the individual.
Carpal Tunnel Relief
Carpal Tunnel pain not only affects the median nerve, the arms and hands, but also pain patterns are evident in the neck, shoulder, and back muscles. By applying various techniques including Myofascial Release and skin brushing, this massage will allow you to relax-- releasing tightness, pain, and restrictions.
Foot Reflexology
Our feet are miniature versions and road maps to the rest of the body. Reflexology uses pressure points on hands, ears, or in this case, feet, that "reflex," to specific areas and organs. By manipulating certain reflexes, a parasympathetic nervous system response is activated resulting in stress reduction in the body. This enables blockages to be released by physiological changes. With stress reduced and circulation enhanced, the body's ability to heal and stay in balance is encouraged. This treatment includes hydrotherapy and foot massage.
Hot Stone Therapy
The healing power of warmed stones has been recognized by many cultures for centuries. Hot Stone Therapy uses smooth basalt stones that penetrate the muscles, helping to assist the body in relaxation. The stones can be placed on a client's body, from head to toe, and are used to help glide over muscles and are helpful in releasing tension from pressure points/trigger points. Hot stone therapy is very effective in creating balance and peace, while providing the normal benefits of a regular massage.
Kahi Loa
This is the traditional bodywork and ancient healing art shared by the Kahili family of Kauai, Hawaii. Also known as the “Seven Elements Massage", which corresponds to the seven elements of Hawaiian shamanism: Ahi (fire), Wai (water), Makani (wind), Pohaku (stone), La AU (plants), Holoholona (animal) and Kanaka (human).
This healing practice revitalizes the body and allows for clear thoughts and an overall feeling of rejuvenation and inner peace. Clients usually remain clothed for this session. Oil is not applied in Kahi Loa, so it can be used in various settings, with or without a table.
My massage and bodywork is effective, affordable, and uniquely tailored to each of my clients' needs.
